SCADDS/RC-Beam
Drafter Release 1.1
SCADDS/RC-Beam
Drafter is for automatic preparation of detailed Longitudinal
Sections and Cross Sections of Reinforced Concrete Continuous Beams
in Multistorey Buildings through AutoCAD.
Presently,
this is on MS-DOS® platform and controlled
through a Windows® 95/98 User Interface.

Frequently
Asked Questions (and Answers!)
Q.
What are the functions of SCADDS/RC-Beam Drafter?
A.
SCADDS/RC-Beam Drafter is meant for automatic preparation of detailed
longitudinal elevations and cross sections of Reinforced Concrete Continuous
Beams based on IS codes and handbooks as well as on sound engineering
practice.
Q.
Will SCADDS/RC-Beam Drafter carry out detailing automatically?
A.
Yes! You can obtain a truly professional drawing for a typical continuous
beam having, say, 6 spans, in less than 10 minutes flat! That too, to
any scale of your choice with your own custom drafting standards, using
AutoCAD. Curtailment, extension and bending of rods are automatically
taken care of as per Codal provisions and therefore, you do not have
to provide any input for these parameters. Moreover, you can also control
these parameters to meet your custom detailing requirements. All such
extensions and curtailments will be fully dimensioned so that the site
engineer can understand the drawings with absolute ease.
Q.
What sectional shapes and steel variations are supported by SCADDS/RC-Beam
Drafter?
A.
SCADDS/RC-Beam Drafter supports Rectangular, Tee and Ell beam sections.
The main reinforcement at top and bottom can contain upto six layers
of rods and each of these layers can contain two groups of rods. For
instance, you may have a Tee section having two layers of rods at bottom
and a single layer at top. While the first layer at bottom may have
4 nos. of 20 mm. rods, the second layer may have 2 nos. of 20 mm plus
2 nos. of 12 mm., based on the design requirements.
Q.
What is the input required to be given for detailing a continuous
beam?
A.
The input will include the no. of spans, minimum details for each span
including shape of section, minimum details for each grid (column) line,
steel grades & notation symbols and reinforcement details. The main
reinforcement details will typically have the number and sizes of rods
at top and bottom for both midspans and endspans. For stirrups, you
have the option of providing uniform stirrups or two groups of stirrups
with different size and spacing. You can also have side-face reinforcement,
if present, for a particular span, group of spans or all spans.
Q.
What is the output generated by SCADDS/RC-Beam Drafter?
A.
The output will contain the entire longitudinal section of the continuous
beam as well as all cross sections at midspans and endspans. You will
also have the choice of restricting the drawing generation to either
longitudinal section only or cross sections only or combinations thereof.(Top)
