Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers!)

Q. What is a Drawing Template?

A. A Drawing Template contains information about the AutoCAD version you use; scale factors, sheet size and title block contents; colors, layers and line types for the structural outline, main rods and secondary rods; dimensioning options and styles; and text styles for various types of text appearing in the drawing. The creation of a Drawing Template is achieved by using SCADDS/RC-Draft Manager and this process normally takes 4 to 5 minutes.

Q. Which AutoCAD versions are supported by SCADDS/RC-Drafting Suite! for generating drawings?

A. SCADDS/RC-Drafting Suite! supports AutoCAD Release 11, 12, 13, 14 and AutoCAD 2000 as well as AutoCAD LT 97, 98 & 2000.

Q. Does it support customization of RCC drawing styles?

A. Yes, of course! This is one of the main features of SCADDS/RC-Drafting Suite!. You can customize colors, layers, line types, text styles & text notations, dimensioning parameters and so on. Once customized, these parameters form an integral part of the Drawing Template.

You also have our innovative Notation Manager in each module which will help you customize the way you want to describe the reinforcement on the drawings. For instance if you want to describe 4 nos. of 16 mm rods, this can be done in so many ways such as '4-16#', '16 MM. 4 NOS.', '16 TOR 4 NOS.', '4 NOS. 16 T', '#16-4', and so on. You can also choose your symbol for the rod. The same system is also applicable for describing rods in slabs, stirrups in beams and ties in columns.

Q. Can SCADDS/RC-Drafting Suite! make drawings in both units - Millimeters and Inches?

A. Yes! Selecting your Unit or changing the current Unit is just a mouse click away. You can also regenerate drawings with a different Unit, even after the input data are entered, thanks to built-in automatic Unit conversion features.

Q. Can I obtain drawings to any scale factor?

A. Yes. SCADDS/RC-Drafting Suite! supports three types of Scale Factors. They are: Drawing Scale Factor, Plotting Scale Factor and Dimensioning Scale Factor. In most situations, the first and the third are kept as 1:1 where as the second is altered based on the sheet size. (Top)
